Last Wednesday, the North Country Chamber of Commerce released the results of its annual ‘issue survey,” which looks at the views of more than 4,000 businesses in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton and northern Warren counties.
In terms of state issues, the North Country regional business community overwhelmingly support Governor Cuomo’s proposed tax reforms (93% in favor); significant state mandate relief for local governments and schools to help reduce property taxes (92%); reform of the state’s Scaffold Law (95%); and allowing well-regulated development of the state’s natural gas resources (83%). And those surveyed overwhelmingly opposed using taxpayer funds for partisan political activity (92%).
